I've started using a cookbook I bought last spring. It's the kind where they have menus for the whole week (5 days/meals) and a grocery list for all the things you'll need to make those meals. The meals are simple enough for me (which has to be pretty simple. I am not an excellent cook.) and just the kind of food I grew up with. Filling, tasty, easy and without expensive ingredients.
I’d love to win the cookbook, especially for the easy one-dish and quick-fix meals. Divorced mom and work 40+ hours a week and lead a girl scout troop. By the time I get home, get laundry started, help with homework, etc. Would love something to help me with some easy ready to eat meals so we aren’t eating fast food or cereal for dinner.
And not just how to get your spouse and kids to “come home to supper,” but why it is so important that you do. The author, Rachel Masters, is a stay-at-home mom of five and she sells the books directly from her website. She gives quite a few extra recipes and tips in the appendices of the book, like mixes, dairy-free recipes, freezer meals and more. Any item sold as a package on our website is identified by a unique alpha-numeric item number (such as "APH1AB").
Anyway, all that to say, I'd highly recommend this cookbook to any of you out there who are kitchen challenged like I am. I've even e-mailed Mrs. Masters for help when I had a question, and she was more than willing to provide advice and encouragement. You just try that with Mrs. Crocker and see how far you get. Finding simply, healthy meals that can be made quickly—between homework and evening activities.

Christy Jordan’s new cookbook, “Come Home to Supper,” is aimed at those who want to make a sit-down family meal. Upon re-reading this, I realize it sounds like a third-grade book report. I have four baskets full of laundry to sort out in my living room, a dishwasher to load and breakfast to make. My biggest hinderance is many schedules of my family and I always think I have more time then I do.
This gave me 3 months of 5 meals per week, plus a snack and dessert each week. There are a few recipes that I substitute our favorites and sometimes I do take a break for a few weeks from this. With the shopping lists and number of servings for each recipe, this makes it so easy to only buy what we need. Our grocery bill has shrunk considerably. There are also ideas for breakfast, lunch, seasonal ideas, special meals.
I love this cookbook and it shows as it's falling apart. I've had it since 2011 or 12; when my mom saw it she wanted one. We have a large family and meal planning was a pain.
